PB&B Apple Slices

Writer: Katherine SimsKatherine Sims

Apples can do a lot for you, thanks to fiber and natural plant chemicals called flavonoids. These flavonoids have antioxidative, anti-inflammatory, anti-mutagenic and anti-carcinogenic properties. They protect against blood vessel and heart damage as well as protecting the cells of the pancreas, which can lower your chances of type 2 diabetes. They also can help lower your cholesterol and they may protect your cells’ DNA from oxidative damage, which can lead to cancer. They also modulate key cellular enzyme functions. Apples are also full of fiber, which slows digestion and makes you feel full, longer. Eating fiber-rich foods, such as apples, helps control acid reflux, as well as digestive issues like diarrhea and constipation.

Ingredients:

Fresh apple

Natural peanut butter

Bacon, crispy fried

For this recipe, fresh apples are best. Try gala, fuji, or Macintosh apples as these are wonderful fresh. You can slice the apple into thin wedges for ease. But if you really want a wow presentation, core the apple and thinly slice across the apple.

Spread the peanut butter over the apple slice.

Top with bacon. Enjoy this salty, sweet slice!
